Those who know me, know that from
2018-2019, I had breast cancer. I went through 4 infusions of the chemo called AC and then 12 infusions of Taxol. Then I went through 3 surgeries.
Things had been going well until earlier this year when I developed some arm swelling and pain along with loss of feeling at times. After 3 different ultrasounds and a MRI, it was discovered I had a cancerous mass in my brachial plexus.
For anyone that may be unfamiliar with it,
The brachial plexus is a network of nerves in the shoulder that carries movement and sensory signals from the spinal cord to the arms and hands.
Along with the cancer itself, I’ve been dealing with nerve pain in my arm and hand.
I had a cycle of infusions of two different chemotherapies which as of a Petscan right before Memorial Day weekend, showed were not working and the tumor had grown.
I started a new chemotherapy but took a week break for a week of radiation in hopes of it helping shrink the tumor and assist in pain relief as well.
i have had another round of that chemo recently and will have my next on July 6th. My oncologist was hoping to add an
immunotherapy but it was not covered by insurance.
As of June 24th, I have went down to the Mayo Clinic. They have begun new testing from my biopsy to see what options they can find.
My treatment also will include now seeing a lymphedema specialist and a physical therapist to assist with the nerve issues and damage I have in my hand.
Lastly, I will also be receiving a nerve block into that area to help with the pain I experience.
The funds raised would be utilized for medical bills and anything that insurance may not cover.
Thank you for considering and helping out.
Nicole
