Cancer relief fund for Rob and Family
Donation protected
My name is Steven Doyle. Robbie Woodsmall is a good friend of mine. We grew up together and I can tell you he is a good man, father of 3 small children and friend. He needs our help right now. Robbie had a very unexpected cancer diagnosis and some serious complications as a result of treatment. This fund is to assist with medical bills and money to live on as Rob will not be able to work for some time. Below is a
Facebook post from Jamie (Robbie's Wife) with more details about the situation.
"To Our Family and Friends: Robbie and I have decided it’s time to share some news with you. I am posting this on FB with Robbie’s permission because although we would prefer to call and text everyone we are close to, we are not able to at this time. We did not send out updates sooner because we were waiting for more information. So here it goes:
On August 21st, Robbie went to the ER in Willits thinking he was having an allergic reaction to some medication he had recently started taking. They ended up diagnosing him with testicular cancer. He had surgery on Wednesday to remove the tumor.
Yesterday morning Aug 31st he developed a blood clot in his leg from the surgery. Laytonville Ambulance transported him to Willits. They did an ultrasound and discovered it was in fact a blood clot and it was too large for them to treat there. He was transported to St. Helena hospital yesterday afternoon so that he could have surgery to remove the blood clot. The equipment they need to be able to remove it at that hospital is broken, so now he must be transferred to another hospital. Also, they have never done this procedure on a blood clot this large. As of tonight Sept. 1st, he is still waiting for a hospital that is willing and able to take him and do the procedure. He also has two small blood clots in his lungs.
The Oncologist at St. Helena received the pathology report about Robbie’s cancer yesterday. It is an aggressive form of testicular cancer, but highly curable. They estimate it to be at stage 2 or stage 3. It has also spread into some nearby lymph nodes and a little has metastasized in his lungs, all of which is treatable with chemotherapy. He will require 4 rounds of very aggressive chemo. He will return to St. Helena to start his first round of chemo as soon as the blood clot is removed.
These are the important aspects of what we know up to right now.
Please know we would have rather told a lot of you ourselves, but the last few days have consisted of a lot of phone calls and meetings with doctors. We are returning messages as we are able. Robbie is in good spirits and very positive. Right now, we are trying to focus on getting him better and what things are going to look like the next 4-6 months."
If you can please donate to help Robbie and his family get through this. They are not the kind of people to ask for a lot of help, so I'm going to be the one that does it for them.
