Cancer recovery fund for Krisanne and family.

Hi, My name is Kara, the older sister to Krisanne Bowytz (McCoy). Like many, my sister has struggled with severe Human papillomavirus virus (HPV) her whole adult life. She comes from a generation before a vaccine was made available to prevent this virus spreading and ultimately being the leading cause of cervical cancer in millions of women.

Recently Krisanne herself was diagnosed with cervical cancer in early June after battling for years with many procedures and preventative care. After reeling from the news and finding support from her family and friends, she discussed her options with her doctor. He recommended a hysterectomy as the most aggressive and successful procedure.

On Monday, July 19 she went in for this surgery and all things considered, everything went well according to the doctor. They say this kind of procedure can be "routine" but as is any surgery, there can be some serious recovery time.

Ideally this treatment will rid Krisanne of cancer and she and her family can put this behind them. However, the healing process for her will be met with some firm restrictions as she builds up her strength and heals. She will be unable to return to work for 8-12 weeks.

This is a devastating blow financially to her and her family. Especially considering Krisanne works as a bartender in the restaurant industry and just recently was able to return to her regular schedule after the COVID-19 shut downs. To say the least, it's been a hard year.

If you know anything about Krisanne, you know her tenacity. You know her relentless, determined strength. You know her unbending capability of love. And you know her unselfish generosity.

But this time, she needs the help.

That being said, I'm setting up this Go-Fund-Me to help with her recovery. Any amount helps and I have set a total goal of $5,000 to assist her for 2-3 months of healing. It's not going to be easy and she'll have to take it slow. But if we can remove just the financial burden, her energy can do the rest.

Before I'm done here, I also want to use this platform to advocate for Cervical Cancer Awareness and the importance of getting the HPV vaccine. Had this vaccine been available to Krisanne when she was younger, none of this would be necessary!
