My only sibling, my sweet little sister Niki, was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer that had spread into her lymph nodes on our mom's birthday, January 21st 2015 when Niki was only 37. After 10 months of chemotherapy, radiation and a surgery that February that unfortunately caused nerve damage in her arm, she is cancer free but now deals with lymphadema, neuropathy in her fingers, feet and toes, and bouts of cellulitis in her right arm. A horrible side effect of her treatments is an extreme sensitivity to certain chemicals and fragrances. She can't be around anything that has much of a smell at all or she becomes physically ill and her skin breaks out in hives. At the moment she is living over 2 hours away from me and our parents, but our parents are aging, and I have a child in school that I'm homeschooling now due to the coronavirus so we're not able to help her except for emotionally over the phone and text. We're doing all we can to help keep her afloat financially, but it's not enough to make a positive change in her life, and Niki is defeated. She's a fighter, she wants to work but can't, and this has broken her. She's living in a rental house, alone. It's full of mold, it's lacking insulation making it very expensive to heat, and it's not hospitable for her to be in to heal, mentally or physically. She is more than willing to move closer to family, but we need guidance in finding her a place that can accommodate her physical needs. She's had a scare recently and had a biopsy yesterday that won't come back with answers for a couple of weeks, but it is just a long line of doctors appointments she's had to go to because this seems to be a never-ending battle for her. She's so strong, but she's exhausted every avenue she has for help and resources and there is no help for her, which is the reason I'm here. She needs peace, she needs to be able to breathe without panic always in the back of her mind. She's alone, she's terrified, she's so depressed, and I wish I could put her in my pocket and carry her around with me forever and protect her, but it's not possible. Any help, anything at all to help her in any way, would be appreciated more than you could possibly imagine.
