Hi everyone,
I’m writing this on behalf of my brother, David (Fridge) — a devoted husband, dad of three, and someone who has always put his family first.
If you know David, you’ll know he’s a hard worker and the kind of person who always shows up for others. His world revolves around his kids and their involvement in sport, and he’s been an active and much-loved part of the Golden Grove Football Club community. Whether it’s helping out, volunteering his time, or supporting others, David has always been the one to lend a hand — never the one to ask for help.
Over the past four months, life has changed dramatically for David and his family. He was diagnosed with cancer and, shortly after, lost his job. He is currently undergoing intensive chemotherapy — four days straight every 21 days. While David will always say he’s “doing fine,” the reality is that the treatment has taken a significant toll on his energy and ability to manage everyday life. The fatigue is constant, and the physical effects of treatment have limited what he can safely do.
David’s focus right now is on getting through treatment, followed by surgery, and doing everything possible to recover. When he is able, he will work in between treatments — that determination is part of who he is — but full-time work simply isn’t possible at this time. With his wife, Vennessa, working part-time, their household income has been significantly reduced while everyday expenses continue as normal.
Asking for help does not come easily to David. He’s usually the one helping others, not the one needing support. But this has been a particularly difficult season for their family, and the financial pressure has continued to build while David focuses on his health and being there for his family.
Funds raised will help with:
• Day-to-day living expenses
• Household bills and essential costs
• Treatment-related expenses
• Upcoming surgery costs
• Supporting the kids, so they can continue to have what feels like a normal, everyday life during an incredibly challenging time
Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a genuine difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page or keeping David and his family in your thoughts and prayers is deeply appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read and for supporting a truly good man and his family during a very tough chapter in their lives.
With gratitude,
The Family
