My name is Lisa, and I am Jason's wife. We heard the news that no one wanted to hear last year - cancer. Jason went to the ER for a debilitating headache that had lasted four days. Once at the ER, I demanded a CT scan where they found a lemon-sized tumor on his brain. He was then rushed to Atlanta for emergency surgery. When the pathology report returned, we heard the word Glioblastoma, a very aggressive form of brain cancer. Jason would go through radiation and chemotherapy, and his scans would be clear until March of this year. There was another tumor (the size of a grape this time). He proceeded to have another surgery to remove the cancerous tumor and another surgery a month later to stop the CSF leak that had occurred. Jason was fighting and was going to continue to fight. Through all of this, he has some left side weakness, anxiety, a stutter that he did not have before when he is upset or nervous, and fatigue. He is always tired and feels like he has no energy. We were just living life, and his latest scan showed yet another tumor, but this one is tiny, about the size of a pea. However, there is no more guidance from his doctors. We feel like we have been abandoned and left on our own. I have been doing my own research at this point in time and I am not giving up on my husband, who refuses to stop fighting. We have filled out the paperwork for Optune and Care Oncology. However, with not having insurance and not being able to get insurance due to his diagnosis, it looks like it will be expensive. We can get some financial assistance but it will not cover everything. We will still need to pay for the initial consults, three-month doctor's appointments, medications, bloodwork and MRIs. Jason has beat the statistics and is at 21 months since diagnosis. We are NOT giving up. I love my husband with all my heart and want to do whatever I can to ensure he is here for me, his children, family, and friends. Please consider donating whatever you can to help us with these expenses over the next couple of years. Every little bit counts, and please keep us in your prayers.
