Hi! I'm Rhonda Crecelius. In August of 2022, I was diagnosed with lung cancer. I did not undergo any treatment because my doctor said they got it all and it was gone. On April 18, 2025, I went to the hospital because, along with a massive headache, I had had 2 seizures. My right side was affected (I couldn't hardly walk and my hand was not working). I couldn't remember words that I was trying to get out to my husband and daughter and was slurring. I couldn't remember the username and password for my work computer, so I couldn't get clocked in that morning.
The CT scan came back showing the tumor on my brain, and the edema was 7 times the size of the tumor. The doctor said it had metastasized from my lung cancer through my bloodstream, meaning all of the cancerous cells were not gone from my lung surgery. I ended up having 3 craniotomies.
I had my craniotomy surgery the following Monday to remove the tumor. I got an infection in the incision and had to undergo a 2nd surgery.
In May, I had my 2nd craniotomy surgery to remove my skull bone, clean out the infection (2 infections including mold and 3 fungal infections), and to remove the damaged scalp, which was replaced with titanium mesh. So part of my skull is gone. I came home on 5 different antibiotics, including amphotericin B, which my husband and daughter had to give me through an IV every day for 6 weeks, 5 different blood pressure medicines, seizure medicine, and more that I can't remember.
The mesh ended up being too small to cover my scalp and missing skull bone, so in July, I had to have a 3rd craniotomy surgery to remove the mesh and clean out my head again. This time, not only was the mesh replaced, but I also had surgery to include a flap on the side of my head. The tissue for the flap was removed from my leg, so now I also have muscle pain and nerve damage to my left leg.
At this time, I am currently doing chemo and immunotherapy, which could be up to 2 years. These treatments, although necessary, are brutal on your body.
I have not worked since April 18, 2025.
I do have insurance, but it includes a $1000 deductible and $7500 out-of-pocket expense, and my medical bills are piling up. My medications are also expensive. I really need help!!! I have put off doing this until now because I was hoping to be able to somehow figure this out on my own, but it's impossible, so I have to ask for help. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
