My name is Jay, and I am the father of two young twins. I am fighting aggressive cancer while trying to still be “Dad” every day.
What I felt was real.
The pain in my heart when I first learned I had cancer.
There were days I felt scared… days I felt tired… days I wondered if I was strong enough.
But I changed my mindset.
I chose to stay positive — not because it’s easy, but because my children need me.
I accepted what I cannot control, and I keep fighting what I can.
Surgery, treatments, infections, hospital days — I’m still here.
I pray quietly. I hold on to hope.
I remind myself that healing is a journey, not a race.
Every single day I say:
“I am stronger than this.
I am fighting.
I am healing.
I am not giving up.”
After surgery, I developed a severe infection and ongoing complications. Because of this, my treatment has been delayed while doctors work to stabilize my body. I’ve been living with a surgical drain, constant medical monitoring, and repeated hospital visits.
Chemotherapy is covered in Canada, and I am receiving it. But my doctors have Strongly recommended immunotherapy (Tecentriq) — a treatment that gives me real hope of extending my life and seeing my children grow up. Unfortunately, this specific immunotherapy is not fully publicly funded for my medical situation, because coverage is often limited to different stages or conditions.
A compassionate program helps with part of the cost, but a significant amount still falls on me — at a time when I am physically unable to work.
Some days I leave for treatment not knowing how my body will respond. Some days I come home exhausted, in pain, and emotionally drained — but my children still need hugs, meals, and reassurance that Dad is okay.
I am asking for help for one reason: to stay here for my children.
Your support will help cover:
• Immunotherapy (Tecentriq) treatments
• Infection management and ongoing medical care
• Hospital visits and recovery
• Transportation to treatment
• Basic needs for my children while I fight to get better
Every donation gives us something priceless — time together.
If you can’t donate, sharing our story means the world. From our family, thank you for helping me keep fighting.
