Cancer is tough, but so is Ms. Tiller!

Donation protected
Our community is truly heartbroken to learn of our beloved, Ms. Tiller's recently diagnosed breast cancer.  Leslie is a dedicated teacher, for 14 years. Four as a gifted Montessori 1st, 2nd, 3rd teacher at Huntley Hills, and ten years as a traditional Kindergarten teacher, and 1st grade teacher at Riverside Primary School in Cobb County.  We are asking our friends, family, and community members to help this wonderful family through this very difficult time.  To treat this type of cancer is an expensive endeavor, and her insurance only covers a certain percentage of the necessary chemotherapy and radiation treatments needed to battle the disease.  She is even working through her first treatment, as much as possible, for fear she will not be able to provide for her family without her additional income.

Leslie's official diagnosis is invasive ductal carcinoma, HER2 positive (breast cancer) - stage 2, grade 3.  She will have 6 rounds of TCHP chemotherapy (4 unique chemo drugs) over 18 weeks to try to shrink the aggressive tumor. One down, 5 more to go. She will then have surgery (not sure which surgery yet- removal of lymph nodes, mastectomy, double mastectomy, reconstruction, possible ovary removal as well).  Depending on her response to surgery, she will have 12-14 more rounds of targeted chemo after surgery. We have had several requests from family, friends and acquaintances asking how they can help, and this is a great way to contribute to her road to recovery.

Leslie is a loving mother of two adorably sweet girls, Fiona (age 8, 3rd grade) and Aurora (age 5, Kindergarten). Her amazingly supportive husband, Ben, teaches technology at Briar Vista Elementary. Your contributions are critical in helping the Tiller family have a chance in this fight. And it’s not going to be an easy one by any means. The physical and emotional toll that this will take on all four of them will be immeasurable. Our hope is to raise money to help Leslie, Ben, and their two girls during this difficult time. We would like to do all that we can to help alleviate the financial burden placed on her and her family.

Please share this page on social media to help her during this crucial time and please keep Ms. Tiller, and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
