Hi, my name is Abegail, my siblings and I just found out on June 20, 2019 when our father, Florante Mendez, who is 59 years old had a CT scan, that he has cancer somewhere in his body. He has brain metastases which is cancer cells that have spread to his brain as well as tumors in his brain. They also tested his colon and it came back much higher than normal. He needs to have some more tests done to find out where the cancer originated so that they can start the proper treatment to hopefully beat the cancer and prolong his life.
He hasn't met his other 2 granddaughters and he really wants to see my family (me, my husband, and our 4 children) again. It has been almost 3 years since we were last able to bring them to visit us here in United States. Since then we have had 2 more children that they have not yet met. We are in the process of getting everything together so that we can all go to the Philippines and visit them soon and so that he can meet our 2 newest additions to our family. It will unfortunately use up almost all of our savings so we will not have much left to help him pay for his tests and the treatments that he will need to get better...
We are hoping to get some help for our father's tests to find where the original source of the cancer is, so that they will be able to properly treat him. The doctor said that to start, he needs an MRI and an abdominal ultrasound and that will determine if he needs to start chemo or radio therapy.
He will be having these tests on June 25, 2019 and after which he will need to stay in the hospital for at least a month for chemo or radio therapy, which is undoubtedly expensive.
Our father is a very positive person. He is always saying that he will be fine and everything will be okay. He seems to be more worried about us, (our mother, myself, and my 4 siblings) than he is about himself. He loves his family so much. He is the greatest dad I know. I can't thank him enough for all the sacrifices he has made for us. He has dedicated his whole life to provide and care for our family. He is the reason why we became what we are now. We love our father so much and we want him to be with us for as long as possible.
We will be eternally grateful for any and all help that you are able to give for our father's treatments and support.
Thank you!
