This gofundme is set up for my little cousin Emiliano who is currently battling a rare form of childhood cancer known as Anaplastic Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma(eRMS). Emiliano is three years old and currently resides in Puebla, México, where his current treatment options are limited. All proceeds will go towards proton therapy treatment in Spain since it is not readily available in México. Proton therapy will provide a safer alternative to radiation treatment. At Emi’s young age, radiation treatment will likely irreversibly damage his cognitive function and inhibit his mental development.

--The Story--
At the end of September of 2019, Emi was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in his right eye known as Anaplastic Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma(Anaplastic eRMS). Anaplastic eRMS is an aggressive form of childhood cancer that results in rapid tumor progression in pediatric patients.
Here is a picture of Emi before he was diagnosed with cancer.
In the past year, Emi has undergone 18 cycles of chemotherapy, a biopsy, and one critical surgery. Thus far, doctors have removed approximately 85% of the tumor, preserving both his eye and its optic nerve in the process. Emi’s treatment has partially impacted his vision and left him with a slight squint.
The doctors hope to reduce the rest of the tumor through chemotherapy and proton therapy. Proton therapy is a less invasive cancer treatment method that will reduce the negative impacts on his cerebral and long-term development. This treatment will effectively reduce the remaining parts of the tumor and give Emi an opportunity for a better quality of life.
Emi has been accepted as a suitable candidate for proton therapy at the University of Navarra Clinic in Madrid, Spain. The cost of the treatment is of €62,000 or $72,000.
While we recognize that times are currently challenging, we urge you to consider helping in any way possible. A finales de Septiembre del 2019, a Emi fue diagnosticado con un tumor maligno en la orbita del ojo derecho, llamado Rabdomiosarcoma embrionario anaplasico, un tumor de rápido crecimiento y muy maligno por lo que la Oncóloga Pediatra lo clasificó como tipo III de gravedad.
Actualmente lleva 18 ciclos de quimioterapia, una biopsia y una cirugía en donde le lograron extraer un 80 - 85% del tumor, logrando con ello rescatar el ojo así como el nervio óptico, obviamente afectando un poco la visión y provocándole una ligero estrabismo. El resto del tumor se pretende reducir por medio de quimioterapias y un tratamiento llamado protonterapia que únicamente se tiene en el extranjero. Ello ayudaría a degradar el tumor sobrante y si es la voluntad de Dios erradicar esta enfermedad y darle a Emi una oportunidad de una mejor calidad de vida.
El lugar donde ha sido aceptado como candidato idóneo se encuentra en Madrid, España en la Clínica Universidad de Navarra el costo del tratamiento es de 62 mil euros o 72 mil dolares.
Reconocemos que la situación económica está muy difícil, pero lo instamos a que considere ayudar de cualquier manera posible. Cualquier donación hará una gran diferencia en el plan de tratamiento actual y futuro de Emi.
