In life, we all go through many phases and struggles. Oftentimes, the struggle leads you to a strength you didn't know you had within. But no one ever imagines hearing the unexpected, and then what happens next is a series of events no one can predict. Life, the unexpected journey…

In the summer of 2024, the unexpected hit my life pretty hard, and I heard words I never dreamed I would hear: “Colon Cancer.” Every feeling, hope, dream, and life aspiration came to a halt. The day the earth stood still.

Sadness ran through my entire existence. So many questions, the why’s and the when’s, run through your mind. How much time do I have left on this earth? My children’s faces playing back in my mind, thinking how this will affect them.

Within a matter of days, I had scans, biopsies, and saw doctor after doctor along with endless bloodwork. In August, a 5-hour surgery was performed; the doctors removed the tumor and part of my healthy colon. Final diagnosis: stage 3 colon cancer.

Recovery has been quite a struggle physically, mentally, and emotionally. But God is good, and this journey is definitely not over. Although many things are covered by medical insurance, other alternative treatments are not. Nutrition is a huge component, and incorporating Eastern medicine with Western medicine can be costly.

I have already started this complete lifestyle change, but in order to fully embrace it, I need the support of family and friends. Beating cancer is my number one goal. I appreciate all that can help with this cause for survival.
