Cancer can’t stop her - Help Abagail fight!

Hello, my name is Zach. I’m reaching out to share the story of my incredible sister-in-law, Abagail, who has been bravely fighting against Ewing Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer. At just 24 years old, Abagail and my brother, Seth, were in the early stages of building their dreams together when their lives were turned upside down by this devastating diagnosis.

Abagail is currently facing stage 4 terminal Ewing Sarcoma and has been given an estimated 1.5 years to live as of October 2024 if her treatment doesn’t improve. Unfortunately, despite trying four different types of chemotherapy, none have been effective against the rapidly growing tumors. The situation became even more critical during the Christmas holidays when Abagail’s L5 vertebra in her spine completely collapsed. This, combined with severe erosion in her pelvis, has left her unable to walk or maintain strength in her legs, as well as losing control over her bowel and bladder. Abagail’s health has declined significantly, and she currently weighs just 124 lbs.

In light of these challenges, Abagail’s medical team has pivoted from chemotherapy to a new treatment plan that involves radiation therapy and potentially emergency surgery to stabilize her spine with rods and screws. Thankfully, the early results from her radiation sessions have been encouraging, and she is finding this approach to be less painful compared to her previous treatments.

While they navigate this arduous journey, Seth is struggling to balance work and caring for Abagail, who now requires 24/7 support. They also need to transition into a more accessible living space, as their current duplex is not equipped to accommodate Abagail’s needs—Seth has been carrying her up and down the stair every day, which is taking a toll on both of them.

To alleviate some financial burdens, we are raising funds to help cover essential bills and necessary items. Alongside this campaign, an Amazon wish list has also been set up for supplies like adult diapers, heating pads, and mobility aids, including a wheelchair they are currently renting but will soon need to purchase.

Abagail’s is fighting a long and difficult battle against cancer, and we know there will be lasting effects on her body, regardless of the outcome.
