Although Matthew and Tessa feel hesitant to reach out to their loved ones in this trying time, we know that our support and help is needed now more than ever before. Between medical bills, insurance, mortgage, and preparing for a baby, expenses are quickly piling up. Matthew is not working at this time to focus on his treatments, which are 5 days a week, involve a 2.5 hour round trip each day, and are exhausting and taxing on his body. Daily life has had to be altered for both of them due to trying to save up as much as possible to ease the pain of this tough battle. I love my brother and his wife immensely, as do so many others. All I want is to watch them grow their family with as much joy and as little stress as possible. Please consider helping make this their reality. Matthew recently shared the latest update on his cancer and wanted to share it here: On May 26 after my latest MRI, my doctor informed us that my current treatment was no longer effective, and the cancer is growing faster than he would like. I've been dealing with brain cancer for the last 9 years, but this was the first time I felt shaken. At that time, my gorgeous wife Tessa and I were 11 weeks pregnant, and expecting our first child. We were/are terrified of what this may mean for our budding family, but the only option is to fight. Our best course of action now is another round of radiation, a new round of infusions to alleviate side effects of radiation, and an oral anticancer medication typically used to treat leukemia. There is also a new drug that my doctors say can be a game changer for my treatment, but it is currently in the development phase. We have since started radiation treatment, and are almost 2 weeks into a 5 week schedule. We have also started infusion treatments every other week, and are confident than we can halt any further spreading. Aaannd... we are 20 weeks into our pregnancy! We are confident that we finally found our perfect baby names too, so none of you better adopt a dog or whatever until after December! Thanks always for your support.
