Cancer Benefit for Chris Boice
Boice Family Medical Fund
It is with a heavy heart that we feel it is time to share with the community our difficult times.
As many of you know, earlier this year, Chris was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that had
metastasized to the surrounding abdominal cavity. After consulting with two oncologists, the Dr’s have
been working in combination to create Chris’s plan of care. Twice a month he is hooked up to a pump
that is contained in a bag that he must carry over his shoulder while he receives a 48-hour chemotherapy
infusion through his port. He returns 48 hours later for the disconnect. This, along with weekly labs are
done at the Oncologist office in Ormond. Chris also visits his oncologist at Mayo Hospital monthly for all
body scans, checkups and additional labs if needed.
Recent CT scans have shown that the tumor has shrunk but the side effects from the chemo and the
cancer is taking its toll on Chris.
Chris and his wife, Kristi, have 2 sons, Christopher, and Mason. Christopher is in college and
Mason is in high school. The family is very active helping with their sons' sports teams, and you
can always find Chris volunteering to cook and work the concession stands for the local ball fields. Chris
also enjoys hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
Throughout this time, Chris has somehow found the strength to continue working for himself
installing tile, but the last few months have been stressful, difficult, and challenging. Chris has
lost more than 50 pounds and the side effects from the chemo have been debilitating at times.
Chris’s loss of physical strength has left him too weak to continue working at a fulltime pace.
Chris is a husband, father, son, brother, and friend who is special to us all. He is both
overwhelmed and humbled by the support shown by friends and family asking for ways to help.
It is with the permission of Chris and Kristi that this GoFundMe page has been created, to help
the family with expenses due to the decrease of Chris’s income.
We ask for your prayers and positive thoughts for Chris and his family. However, if
you are able, please consider a financial donation to the family during this time. Any
donation would be greatly appreciated.
