Hi, my name is Valerie; this takes much vulnerability and courage to write this out today and ask you for help. My dad Jesse was recently diagnosed with an aggressive Stage 3 cancer called Myxoid Liposarcoma. The tumor is located on the left leg behind his knee and has grown immensely that removing his leg from his lower thigh is the only option. We are grateful that the cancer has not spread further north of his body. Surgery has been scheduled for June 8, 2022.

 

My dad has been working all his life, and he’s a natural optimist and all-around cool guy. Such surgery, will drastically change his life. He will have to stop working and rely significantly on my mother Vicktoria, whom many know as Gypsy Luna. For the past few years, my father and mother have managed and maintained the Desert Sun Plaza in Downtown Phoenix, AZ, in return for living space, and relied on my mother's small business located in the plaza for income. My dad, Jesse has become a big part of the small business community on Grand Avenue. Most small business owners know him well as someone who is always looking out for everyone. Since taking over the management & maintenance at the Desert Sun Plaza, he has helped to beautify and improve it. My dad's amount of effort and care at the Plaza reflects how he’s lived most of his life. My dad is always the guy to help. I am confident this obstacle he’s facing won’t stop him from being the same kind and generous guy, but it will slow him down. I am asking for help in the financial difficulties he and my mother will be facing while on the road to recovery from this life-changing surgery. No amount of money will fix the loss of his leg or the emotional and stressful challenges they are facing, but I hope to help fund enough for them to get through these trying times.

 

These funds help pay for necessary modifications in their living space, an easily accessible bathroom, much-needed equipment for his mobility, and other necessities to help with the transition. Also, to help with basic living expenses. Vicktoria (Gypsy) will be his primary support, and she will have to limit her hours and time spent in her small business, which means a cut in their only source of income.
