Our Mission
We are on a mission to establish the Canadian Peace Museum—a sanctuary that aims to foster understanding and unity. Our focus is on promoting peace, equity, environmentalism, community cohesion, Indigenous reconciliation, art, and activism.
The Problem
Despite Canada's reputation for peace and tolerance, the undercurrents of intolerance, hatred, and polarization are on the rise. Additionally, crucial issues like the links between climate change and peace are often overlooked or misunderstood.
Why This Museum
This endeavour is deeply personal for me. I've served in conflict zones with Doctors Without Borders and the Red Cross, and I teach Humanitarian Response at the University of Toronto. My experiences and living with PTSD fuel my passion for this mission.
Our board is composed of individuals with first-hand experience in both conflict and museum setup. For more details, please visit https://canadianpeacemuseum.ca/governance-1
Partnership and Support
We are thrilled to have the backing of the local government, who have generously offered land for the museum, and support from the local Heritage Museum.
Your Impact
We need to secure approximately $134,000 to cover key aspects of getting the museum up and running by 2024. These funds will be allocated towards:
- Establishing the museum space
- Importing and displaying significant artifacts
- Operational necessities
With backing from both local and federal governments, we're halfway there. Your support will help us raise the remaining $50,000.
Act Now
We have the vision, the team, and the support to make this happen—but we need your help. Be part of a transformative initiative that promotes peace, equity, and environmental justice.
Donate today and help us open the doors of the Canadian Peace Museum in 2024.
