Go Fund Me
Many of you know Bill Steer (Aka Back Roads Bill) and his role as GM and founder (1995) of the Canadian Ecology Centre concept, an outdoor environmental education centre – www.canadianecology.ca located within Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park. It is a non-profit outdoor and environmental education facility with an incorporated charity/foundation. It specializes in experiential/land-based learning for children, adolescents and adults bringing them "to be with nature."
The CEC knows that a natural appreciation leads to the evolution of making changes in one's consumptive lifestyle and to lessen an individual’s impact on the environment.
Over the past 25 years (up to the start of Covid) more than 50,000 student days per year have been recorded, plus visits from adult guests, all experiencing the CEC and gaining a better understanding and respect for the natural environment and the history of the great Canadian North.
Bill has made the CEC his life’s mission working tirelessly to build and sustain its existence.
The CEC It is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2022 but due to the continuing pandemic the centre may have to close its doors for good. It relies on the student attendees / programs and donations to stay open and the last 2 years of Covid restrictions have exhausted the cash reserves and it may not survive the winter?
We are asking you to donate to keep the CEC open until the summer of 2022, when hopefully a return to a new normal will see students and adults participating in the programs again.
Our collective goal is to raise $60,000.
Please send this to your network of contacts, encourage them to give and to also to go to the CEC and experience the beauty of the north and learn about the environment and how we can each do our part to help save our climate.
