Canada's Indian Residential Schools Documentary
This fundraiser will assist in a full length documentary focusing on the Indian Residential and Industrial Schools which operated in Canada from the mid 1800's until 1997. The documentary will be produced with segments from all areas of Canada which will involve a great deal of travel given the size and geography of Canada. Interviews will be conducted with survivors and families of former indian school students, Indigenous leaders and former staff and or volunteers of the schools.
ProPics Canada Media Ltd has already acquired video footage from 10 former school properties in 5 provinces. We are looking to film all former school location in the country and travel to interview people from all of these schools where possible. We will also be researching and seeking out historical images and documents as they pertain to the schools, violence, abuse etc.
The Indigenous of Canada have been ignored for generations in this area and through continued media and public awareness, it is the goal to get the answers these communities deserve.
