1st donor
Hi, I’m Kelly, and Jamaica has captured my heart. Over the years, I’ve met so many incredible Jamaicans here in Canada — warm, welcoming, and full of life.
After visiting Jamaica and experiencing that same kindness firsthand, I knew this place and its people would always hold a special place in my heart.
Now, after Hurricane Melissa, many of those same amazing people have lost their homes, belongings, and security. I can’t ignore that — so I’m doing what I can to help.
My Story
I may be Canadian, but Jamaica feels like family.
The first time I visited, I was overwhelmed by the beauty — not just of the island, but of the people. The laughter, the music, the generosity — even from those who had so little, they gave so much.
Over the years, I’ve grown close to so many Jamaicans here in Canada — friends who have shared their stories, their food, and their love for home. Through them, I’ve come to love Jamaica deeply.
When Hurricane Melissa struck, I was heartbroken. I watched videos and messages come in from friends who were crying, homes destroyed, roofs torn off, and families displaced. I knew I had to do something — not later, not someday — but now.
That’s why I started this fundraiser, Canada Hearts Jamaica, to help real people — friends and families I know personally — who are struggling to rebuild their lives after this devastating storm.
What Your Donation Will Do
Every dollar raised will go directly toward real relief efforts for individuals and families who’ve lost so much.
I’ll be coordinating with trusted local partners and couriers to ensure every contribution reaches the right hands quickly and safely.
Your support will help provide:
- Rebuilding materials: Lumber, zinc sheets, nails, cement, tarps, and other essentials for roof and home repair.
- Food and water: Basic groceries, baby formula, and bottled water for families without access to supplies.
- Relief kits: Clothing, toiletries, and hygiene products for those who have lost everything.
- Community recovery: Helping small community hubs, schools, and local shops restart after the hurricane.
I’ll be sharing photos, updates, and stories so you can see exactly how your donation is helping.
Why It Matters
The kindness I’ve received from the Jamaican community — both in Canada and in Jamaica — has changed my life.
They’ve shown me what true hospitality looks like: the kind that comes from the heart, not from what someone has to give.
Now it’s time to return that love.
These are hardworking, family-centered, beautiful people who are facing incredible hardship. Many have lost not just their homes but also their livelihoods — and rebuilding will take months, if not years.
But together, we can help them start again.
How Funds Will Be Distributed
I’m working with trusted community channels to ship and deliver relief barrels and boxes directly to affected families.
Where possible, I’ll purchase supplies locally in Jamaica, so funds also help support the local economy during recovery.
Transparency & Trust
I’ll share every major update publicly — how much is raised, where the funds go, and the impact we’re making together.
You’ll see real stories, receipts, and progress photos. This is personal for me, and I take that responsibility seriously.
Our Goal
Our first goal is to raise $25,000 CAD, enough to provide significant aid for dozens of families in dire need. If we surpass that goal, we’ll extend support to even more communities across the island.
How You Can Help
- Donate what you can — every dollar makes a difference.
- Share this campaign with your family, friends, and coworkers.
- Spread awareness — tell others what’s happening and how they can help.
A Message from My Heart
Jamaica gave me memories and friendships I’ll treasure for life.
Now I want to give back — to help the people who made me feel so at home.
Your donation, no matter the size, means more than words can express.
Together, let’s show that Canada truly hearts Jamaica ❤️
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
— Kelly
