Can You Help Us Help Billie Keep His Leg?

Are you able to spare even £1?

Billie needs a severe fracture repaired or he faces amputation of his back- right leg. (see photos).

His accident:
Black cats are supposed to be lucky, but not this little fella. He’s hard a hard life and still only just a year old.

Sadly, two days ago his mischief got him into trouble. He is a house cat as he is terrified of going outside since being abandoned, however he has managed to acquire a severe impact fracture, the vets think he landed awkwardly.

The X-rays show fracturing in his lower leg (tibia) in several places and dislocated ankle. See photos.

The operation to repair his leg would cost over £2000, by a specialist surgeon, I have no savings. We also have to travel quite a distance by public transport, 90 miles, to attend the specialist vets. Once for a consult, and again if they agree to the operation. It would take us months to save to be able to afford vets fees and travel, all the time he would be suffering pain.

TIME IS AGAINST US! We have been told the longer he remains untreated, the less likely the leg can be repaired.

The vets have told us to keep him in a cage in the meantime. As you can imagine, he is miserable being caged but we have to protect his leg from further damage.

THE ONLY OTHER OPTION IS AMPUTATION costing £500, which is also currently outside our means, or to have him put to sleep. We had trouble scraping together the £320 cost for X-rays. Now we are having to do the same
all over again, trying to find money for an amputation, when we know he has a chance of keeping his leg.

The specialist vets required to do the surgery don’t do a payment plan, so we can’t pay in installments. We don’t want him euthanised and we would prefer such a young cat could keep his back leg. Even if it’s amputated the pressure on his remaining leg is likely to cause damage as he ages, and arthritis, resulting in euthanasia. At least amputation would give him additional years, but how much better to keep him on four legs?

Billie’s Back Story:
Billie is just 12 months old and has already had a hard life. At just three months old his owners in Liverpool moved house and abandoned him in the garden.

Students renting nearby found the starving little kitten and took him in, but they were all oversubscribed with long waiting lists. As one of the household was severely allergic to cats they couldn’t keep him.

They told some students in Manchester of Billie’s plight and they drove to pick him up. Unfortunately their landlord refused to allow them to take the poor kitten and threatened them with eviction. He gave them 24 hours to get rid of Billie or they would all be out on the streets. Again the shelters were full.

They begged us to take the kitten in and we had no choice but agree. They kindly drove him all the way to Leeds. Leeds shelters were similarly oversubscribed and we decided to keep him. He had been through enough upheaval in his young life.

When he arrived he was both terrified and malnourished, and also suffering a bad flea & worm infestation -he also had cat flu, but we nursed him back to health and he gained lots of confidence. In fact he became a naughty little thing always up to mischief but we love him nevertheless.

**Could you please find it in your hearts to give this little chap a chance and donate towards his operation?**

**Even if you can spare £1 would help, if enough people contribute to his cause. THAT’S ALL WE ARE ASKING, to CONTRIBUTE AS LITTLE AS £1**

Thank you for any help, no matter how small, to get him on his feet again. We really do appreciate every penny raised.
