Can you help me have my twins at home?

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kirsty. I am a mum of two, a massage therapist, and a passionate Doula. In late August, I found out I was expecting twins. A week later, my partner had to leave to go back to his home country of Chile to await his working holiday visa approval.

Now, in October, he has still not received a response from the government, and the wait time has increased to up to 12 months. I have been navigating the pregnancy and planning the birth of the babies solo.

When I found out I was having twins, like most twin mums who start looking into twin birthing, I thought home birth was not possible for me, however, I found 3 amazing midwives(yes I need 3 midwives, 1 for each baby and 1 for me) who will support me and my di/di twins, after more research I found out that di/di twins are just 2 babies, they are the lowest risk as they both have their separate placentas and bubbles, as you can see in their cute 9-week ultrasound.

I had both my other babies in my home as I am passionate about women giving birth where they feel safest and this for me was at home so this time as well, I am opting, praying and hoping for another home birth, not only because of my two previous beautiful, unmedicated and peaceful births at home but additionally, in my personal and professional experience, the high amount of hospital policy and procedure coupled with routine intervention at the expense of both the mother and the babies, particularly for twin births is actually beyond a joke.

I could list my reasoning, however, this platform would quickly turn into a passionate rant, rather than a fundraiser, if you are interested as to my reasoning behind wanting to birth my babies at home, there is a podcast recently released called "Birthing Twins" that is an entire series about birthing twins naturally and interviews many mums and experts in the field of natural multiple births.

As you can imagine twin pregnancy has been very different to my other 2 pregnancies, I have had crazy fatigue and morning sickness, having to work 2 jobs to support myself and my young family while my partner is overseas, it's honestly been one of the most challenging times of my life. To add to this my housemate who has been living with us for 9 months abandoned her room after signing on 2 weeks prior for a 6-month renewal, leaving me a further $600 in the red per fortnight.

These are all situations beyond my control, however, I am determined that I still want to birth my babies peacefully at home, I am calling on my community to help me fund this as opting for a hospital birth is simply out of the question. Any small amount will make a difference, I am aiming to raise $8500 to cover the cost of the antenatal appointments, 3 x midwives birth attendance, travel fees and postnatal care.

As a thank you for helping me through this very trying time, I am offering anyone who donates, a discount code for my massage practice "Serendipity Holistic Therapy" to be redeemed either in my shop for goods or when I recommence work for services after maternity leave. This code will be emailed to all who contributed.

Thank you for reading this far and thank you from the bottom of my heart for anything you are able to contribute, either financially or spiritually through praying for us.

Lots of love
