Hello! Can you help me with my last push to join the Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training Course this September?
The Teacher Training course is held in Chanthaburi, Thailand over 5 months. I am fundraising for a small part of the course fee and my expenses to make attending TTC and becoming a TM Teacher a reality. It was my intention to be entirely self-sufficient in my desire to become a TM Teacher. However, as the next course has come unexpectedly early, it has left me a little short for expenses for travel, visas and health insurance. It is also my intention to join a Purusha group before, so that I can adequately prepare for life on TTC and the transition into full-time teaching. Any help or support from you I would be eternally appreciative and grateful for!
Little bit about me
My name is Lewis Alexander, from Fife in Scotland, and I have worked for MERU (the international headquarters of the TM organisation, in the Netherlands) for 2 and a half years. The last 2 years I’ve spent working in the course office as an Account Manager, coordinating, implementing and managing courses on Maharishi’s knowledge with various faculty in the organisation.
I was passionate, determined and self-motivated in this role, realising first hand how profound and valuable this knowledge is in the grips of a global pandemic with so many isolated and locked down.
I was particularly passionate about maintaining the professionalism of the course office and paid close attention to how the knowledge was presented, represented and communicated.
In the role, I contributed to the transition to online courses from in-residence courses (which enabled courses to be online that were previously only available in-person). This opened courses up to thousands around the world, which has been incredibly satisfying and rewarding to be a part of. In this role, I was able to save the funds to cover most of my TTC course fees.
Recently, I joined the World Peace Assembly in Romania for 5 weeks, acting on the call to attend due to the ongoing tensions in the area. I assisted with the administration of the course, ensuring attendees were adequately informed.
Why do I want to become a teacher of Transcendental Meditation?
I want to become a TM Teacher as I can’t imagine another career that would be more rewarding or fulfilling. One simple law of nature is: in order to receive, you must give. I wish to give my knowledge and experience of this technique to others in the systematic way as prescribed by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
As we know, TM offers a compass to the Self for the betterment of the practitioner and the betterment of society as a whole. To teach this technology would be the highest privilege and honour. It seems the modern “connected “ world has resulted in people feeling even more disconnected than ever before, with many left questioning how they can make a valuable contribution to the world, how they can create harmonious and meaningful relationships, and how they can shed stress and negativity to allow them to lead healthier, happier, more connected lives.
Coupled with some of the questions I had before learning TM – how does one truly identify with themselves and the environment around them? What is my life purpose? How can I help others in a meaningful and impactful way? TM and it's associated technologies, I have experienced, are the key to the door that answers each of these questions in time, which is why I wish to become a teacher. Nearly 10 years ago, I was made aware of the Transcendental Meditation technique through a David Lynch talk online where he said "true happiness is not out there, true happiness lies within". It begged the question, what was this within, and how could I get to it? I decided to learn TM soon after in 2012 and furthered my evolution with the Advanced Techniques and TM-Sidhi course while working at MERU.
Where will I teach Transcendental Meditation?
My immediate plans will be to teach in my home city of Glasgow with my very well-respected teacher Angela Landers. After suitable "work experience", it is my intention to establish centres and groups in Stirling, Perth, Dundee and St Andrews, spreading the light of pure consciousness in places where TM has not been readily available before. It is an exciting time for the Transcendental Meditation organisation in Scotland, with a Peace Palace nearing completion in Edinburgh and another planned for Glasgow in the future. I would like to be involved in making the Peace Palace in Glasgow a reality, so that the city has perfect Vastu facilities in which people can gather to meditate and to learn. In the future, my next goal after some time (and considerable amount of nature support) is to create a permanent, affordable Vastu eco-village with a self-sustaining retreat centre, so that there is a permanent group established in Scotland, playing their part for the good of the country and the world.
Thank you for reading this fundraiser and for your support. Any contribution, big or small, means the world to me!
