This GoFundMe page is on behalf of our sister Michelle who was involved in a shocking, life-challenging car accident in Co Mayo.
What happened
On Wednesday the 9th of February 2022 Michelle and her parents were involved in horrific car accident on the N5 at Charlestown.
They were on the way home from a very enjoyable evening of social dancing. Our beloved Dad Michael did not recover from the injuries and died 5 days afterwards, which Michelle is still unaware of.
Our mother Kathleen is thankfully recovering, now at home.
Our wonderful sister Michelle (53) was a passenger in the car, and is in Castlebar hospital recovering from her injuries in ICU.
We are also very grateful to the medical staff who took great care of Michelle in Beaumont hospital, Dublin.
Why we are fundraising for Michelle
Michelle sustained critical brain and spinal injuries, as well as other serious injuries. This has been a devastating time for us all, trying to come to terms with the loss of our wonderful Dad, while we know Michelle's journey-to-recovery is only beginning.
As a family we are all devastated. After speaking with the doctors taking care of Michelle in Beaumont, we are faced with the harsh reality of the care and medical needs that Michelle requires now and will require into the future.
We are a close family and we want to do everything in our power to help Michelle endure this hard journey to recovery.
We need to prepare for the day of Michelle's discharge from hospital, whenever that day is.
Who is Michelle?
Prior to the accident, Michelle was a bright and bubbly loving mother to her beloved only daughter Louise, and a wonderful daughter and sister. She was always generous with her time and spirit.
Anyone who knows Michelle for her caring work role, at Brooklodge Nursing Home or from her school days at the Mercy Convent in Tuam, Co Galway, will attest to the generous and kind nature of Michelle.
Michelle worked hard all of her life, and was fanatical in her love of Country Music and dancing. Michelle would always reach out quietly to help someone in need. We owe it to Michelle now, to do all and everything that we can to restore some quality of life for her as she recovers from her traumatic injuries.
What are the funds for
As her siblings, Sean, Aoife, Padraic, Fiona and Michael we are totally committed to helping our sister’s medical recovery and care needs. BUT WE CANNOT DO IT ON OUR OWN. We are seeking your compassionate support, for financial help from the goodness of the hearts of the GoFundMe community.
