Can You Help A Young Mother Beat Cancer?

Donation protected

I am the owner of Simone Thomas Salon and last week one of my incredible members of staff has received some awful news. As a business and group we want to support them in every way we can and one of the ways for us to do this is to raise funds so she can receive the treatment and the operation she needs.

The member of staff at this time wishes to stay anonymous due to her children.

She is 27 years old with a young child and she has been diagnosed with cervical cancer. She requires surgery as soon as possible, but due to COVID backlogs, the NHS have given her an extremely long wait time. This delay does not seem safe as her cancer is advancing quickly.

We have recommended that she is to go private and has been offered an operation for the beginning of July, but despite her family's best efforts, they are unable to raise all the funds needed to pay for this.

To enable her have this vital surgery and take time out from work to recover, we have set up a Go Fund Me page.

We are aiming to raise £8,000 and we would be so very grateful if you are able to help. Any money raised over the £8000 will be given to a charity ~ Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust: https://www.jostrust.org.uk/

Please if you can donate even £1 it will make a huge difference, please forward to friends who may be able to help. You can find out more below.

Thank you so much in advance. Any help you are able to give means an awful lot to the whole team at Simone Thomas Salon but also to the member of staff.

A Young Mum's Cancer Story In The Time of COVID

In February 2019 I suffered a pregnancy miscarriage, and due to complications, I had to have my womb lining surgically removed. I also suffered a small haemorrhage and became anaemic, and it was at this point that they found the first cancerous cells on my cervix.

Four weeks later I had my first colcoscopy to have that part of my cervix removed,. The procedure went well, and I had 3 monthly check ups to see how I was healing . This is when they discovered more cancerous cells rapidly appearing.

I had another colcoscopy procedure to remove the cells again, but 6 months later, a smear test confirmed that high grade cancerous cells were back and covering a large area of my cervix. This resulted in another procedure to remove a large part of my cervix.

A further smear test in September 2020 showed conflicting results. One said high grade changes but another said no changes and all clear. I phoned countless times to book another test to get a final diagnosis but no one would carry this out due to COVID.

With COVID, my check ups became few and far between but I finally had another smear test March 2021. This confirmed that I wasn’t clear and now have a large area of my cervix affected. With not much of my cervix left this is getting very dangerous as the cancerous cells will now be able to spread to areas beyond my cervix.

I have been emailing and calling the doctors for months but they have no appointments. I have been told I need a total laposcopic hysterectomy by a private doctor.

With the amount of cell growth in 2 years and the small part I have left of my cervix, waiting for an appointment cannot be a option as it will spread through to other parts of my body.
