Hi everyone! I am Tommy, I’m 7 years old I live in Barnsley, South Yorkshire and I was born without my right hand and part of my forearm. I live with my mum and dad and sister Layla-Jane who is 5, we have 2 dogs and I love swimming, playing computer games and building Lego.

Hi everyone! I am Lottie, I’m also 7 years old and I live in Huddersfield West Yorkshire and I was born without my left hand and part of my forearm. I live with my mummy and daddy, my sister Lola who is 10 and I have 3 older sisters and 1 brother who live in their own houses so, I am the youngest of 6!! I love swimming, drawing, playing with my friends, riding my bike, walking our 2 dogs, playing on my Nintendo Switch and Jiu Jitsu. I am competing in my first Jiu Jitsu competition in November and I’m so excited!

And we are....... Team Tommy and Lottie!!

We are soooo excited at the minute because we’ve been asking and asking and asking for a Hero arm from Open Bionics and finally our fund-raising page is now ready.
These arms are awesome, we first saw them at an event for limb different children in the Summer. The fingers move and we got to play Jenga using the Hero arms - they wouldn’t let us take them home though!

We came up with a plan and got our mums to take us to an open day at Open Bionics where we tried out the sensors on our muscles - wow! We made the fingers on the arms move with the electrodes they put on our little arms - game over mums- just think what we can do with these arms - own nail polish, style my hair, computer games, building models - we really need one of these!

Having a little arm is cool and we’ve always found our own way of doing things. Sometimes it takes us longer or we have to say ‘can you give me a hand’ please. Some things we use our feet for, some things we have adaptations to help us, but these arms would make us so proud and even more confidence.
We have grown-ups like us who we look up to and we want to be that for other children. We’d love to show other children they can be anything they want to be - even Bionic! Stick with us kids we will teach you our asking and asking technique. It can sometimes be hard being limb different but by showing we are proud of our little arms we are hoping it will help other children.

We’ve set up a campaign called ‘Can you give us a hand?’ - but this time instead of asking for a bit of help we are asking for a Hero arm. We are working on our muscles - exercising them to strengthen them - please can you help us to both get a Hero arm - we promise we won’t keep asking and asking (well maybe only a bit!)
We know we must work hard for this and will be doing fundraising events ourselves and having lots of fun on the way!

Lots of love Tommy and Lottie xx

Any form of support is massively appreciated, a share, a fundraising event, a donation…. A big thank you from both families!! xx

The Open Bionics Foundation provides financial support to socioeconomically deprived people with limb differences who need multi-grip upper limb prosthetics. We are raising funds through The Open Bionics Foundation and all donations to this page will go towards Lottie and Tommy's Hero Arm. If you would like to generally fundraise for The Open Bionics Foundation to help other people in need get a Hero Arm you can do by setting up your own page.
