My name is Garrett, I am 6 years old, turning 7 in September. I love the Human body, space, Paw Patrol and anything to do with cars.
I’ve been told I’m a little cheeky, but in actual fact I’m very cheeky. Shhh don't tell mum though. She thinks I'm an angel.
One of my favourite movies is Finding Nemo . Just like Nemo has one big fin and one little fin, I was born a little differently too, with one little ear. My mum tells me it's a condition known as mi....micr.... Microtia.
I've seen lots of doctors since I was born, and they've said I was also born with other conditions like In....com...plete... Uni....lat..eral Left Cleft Lip (Incomplete Unilateral Left Cleft Lip) but that was repaired 17/01/2017. I also have an Al..ve...olar Notch (Alveolar Notch), Grade 3 ( and I’m only 2 and half years old) Aural Atresia, Hemi...facial Micro....somia (hemifacial microsomia), Left Duane’s Syndrome Type 1 and Goldenhar Syndrome. As you can see I’m unique and happy go lucky even though I have a long journey ahead with lots of surgeries.
I’m very lucky to have my mum and dad. They have done so much, taking me to weekly appointments, hospital appointments interstate, and they just try to do everything possible to give me everything I need.
As you can see, so much has already been achieved but there is still so much ahead. My next major challenge is to get a big ear but as you can imagine it costs a lot. My Mum told me we need $30,000 by the time I am 6 coz that's when I'll need to have surgery.
Even though it takes a long time to heal, having a big ear will have really big sike-logical (psychological) benefits coz as everyone knows kids can be mean. My mum and dad have done everything to make me confident, and a big ear will help ensure the hard work hasn't been wasted.
So will you please help me get a big ear when I turn 7?
