Can We Help Get Santa to Visit Wadeye This Year?

Everyone Deserves a Gift from Santa, Some Maybe More than Others

Hi,

We are attempting to raise funds to be able to provide a Christmas gift to each of the approx. 500 children in Wadeye.

Wadeye (pronounced wod-air-yer) is a town in remote Australia about 230kms south west of Darwin by air or 400kms by road (but is only accessible by road during the dry winter months).

Wadeye is Australia’s largest aboriginal community with a population of approx. 1,600 of which approx. 500 are children.

Life in Wadeye is hard with few if any of the materials things most people enjoy.

Children do not have toys and have little other than the bare essentials.  In some cases even those are not available to them.

Our objective is to raise enough support to be able to provide every girl and boy within Wadeye a Christmas gift.

This will allow these children to enjoy the excitement and joy of Christmas and hopefully put a happy smile on their faces.

We are seeking donations which will be used to buy gifts for infants (eg teddy bears), girls (eg dolls) and boys (eg cars) as well as balls and educational toys (eg blocks).

I am confident in saying that any contribution you can make would be very appreciated by the children of Wadeye.

Together we can give them some rare joy to celebrate the very special occasion that Christmas is (or at least meant to be) for children around the world.

Santa will be arriving by barge to Wadeye (with the roads inaccessible during the wet season) but I am sure the joy his visit brings will be the same as finding a gift at the bottom of a chimney.

In addition to providing the barge to transport the gifts from Darwin to Wadeye, the Director of the Wadeye Children and Family Centre has also committed to take photos of the children with their Santa gifts which we will make available to all on the Go Fund Me website (and if making donations please feel free to provide your e.mail address and we will e.mail you the photos, and a big thank you, directly).
