Despite the substantial number of artists in the community, London has largely been starved of independently run opera companies. Can of Soup Collective is a registered Not-for-Profit that seeks to offer young and emerging artists professional performance opportunities in the London area. By producing works that reflect the rich diversity of the city of London and which champion positive narratives about women, we hope to strengthen the relationship between classical music and the general public. Can of Soup Collective is committed to building an inclusive creative space that will engage with the community and make opera consumable for all!
We're seeking support for our first season, and more specifically, our spring operas, 'The Medium' by Menotti and Pandora's Locker by Canadian composer, Dean Burry. NPOs have very limited access to funding in their first two years, and especially those tied to the arts. We hope to put on professional level opera, something that is currently not available in London. At the same time, we want to be able to pay emerging artists for a live performance opportunity after a long year of financial and artistic struggles.
