“Cam’s Commemorative Christmas Catio”

As many of you know, this Christmas we very sadly lost our beautiful baby Cam to cat flu. Despite tlc and medicines he became too weak to stay and passed over the rainbow bridge.

His siblings are thankfully recovering.

We wanted to think of a way that celebrated Cam in a commemorative way and decided the best way is to launch our Catio appeal and named it after Cam so his spirit lives on when all the kittens play in his Catio.

We attempted to arrange our catio last year but logistics postponed the process. That is now sorted and we can move forwards with getting our “Cam’s Catio’ and installing it (hopefully in time for spring so the kittens can enjoy it. Zak will also come out and enjoy it as part of his recuperation).

Background:

Here at Koukla Cats we take care of a 156 stray cats. They are neutered, vaccinated, treated for internal and external parasites, provided with a furrever home, given shelter and protection, warmth and shade, given two nutritious meals every day of the year and most of all, they are loved.

All our cats have a name and a unique personality. They live within their family units and together we make one big Koukla Cats family.

They are happy, healthy and contented. They have the freedom to roam within their living environment, to climb trees, explore fields, enjoy beaches or they can stay at home and relax on one of their many sheltered patios on their beds.

Life is good as a Koukla Cat.

Our current challenge is to find safe space for the baby kittens to run and play. The kittens came from rescued mommas out of the area that were facing an unimaginable life if they were not rescued out of their situations. They came to Koukla Cats. One Cat, Ephe, who was rescued from a bin literally gave birth to four beautiful kittens within hours of arriving. Her kittens are thriving.

We have researched and considered the best option available to us so that it lasts a long time, and serves any kittens in the future and we plan to purchase an Omlet catio. We have already been in communication with the company.

We will put some features inside for additional stimulation, provide shade canopies and will provide some landscaping (pot plants) outside to act as fly and mosquito deterrents.

The amount of funding we are attempting to raise is for everything inclusive for the catio and to have it delivered to Koukla Sunrise. We are hoping friends will help to install it with us and once it’s here we will have another wonderful space for the baby Koukla Cats Kittens.
