For The Welfringer Family

Hi all,

My name is Illissa Tull and I’m starting this gofundme for some of our best friends, The Welfringer Family.

On Saturday night, May 20th their newborn baby Camryn Jayne Welfringer who was born on May 10th started showing symptoms of being sick. She was not eating, throwing up, and breathing very rapidly. Alex and Judd took her to the emergency room at CMH in Ventura where they found that she was hypothermic with a very low blood glucose level. The ER had to call a Code White, which is a pediatric emergency. She was transferred to the NICU and throughout the night/morning she became more unstable. She had to be intubated and sedated with IV drugs running to keep her heart rate and blood pressure up. She went into DIC which is a condition that caused coagulation problems and can be fatal. The doctors originally thought that her small bowel was twisted so they took her to surgery but found that her bowels were fine. She survived the surgery. She was then showing signs of metabolic acidosis which happens when your body builds up a toxic level of acid in your blood. She was given many blood products and other drugs to offset this in order to balance back out but she was still on the risky side after every arterial blood gas draw. The doctors still had no idea what was causing all of these issues due to not being able to send her downstairs for any imaging because of being so unstable.

On the evening of Sunday, May 21st, the doctors finally found a cause. Camryn had contracted a bacterial strep infection which turned into meningitis. She fought as hard as she could, but unfortunately she did not make it.

Her parents, Alex and Judson, were able to hold her until she passed away late Sunday night. She is now in heaven with our Heavenly Father holding her in His arms.

Alex, Judson, and their 3-year old daughter Masyn are devastated by this unimaginable loss. They ask for prayers through this difficult time and would ask that their privacy be respected as they grieve.

Camryn was a fighter. She was beautiful and sweet. She was loved immensely. The family needs as much support as possible through this difficult time. Thank you
