Camp Hughes Medical Fund

Donation protected

This special Christian family, over the past 3 and a half years, have gone through all their resources to do everything humanly possible to save their son. They continue to have multiple medical and traveling expenses, plus the daily needs for themselves and their other child who is 10, who has to be cared for while one parent works and the other stays by Camp’s side. His entire journey can be read at https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/camphughes . If you would like to read about his current condition, see  below.  Any donation to help them out is greatly appreciated.

As many of you already know, Camp’s fight with cancer began when he just 5. After multiple hospital stays, life threatening infections and rounds of medicine and chemo, Camp was diagnosed also with Leukemia.  Yes, unbelievable, as if he did not have enough to battle.  At any rate, the leukemia is treatment induced, that is caused by all the treatments, chemo and radiation, or both. As such, the only way to cure it is with a full bone marrow transplant.  Of course, Camp is not, nor has he ever been healthy enough to endure this grueling procedure.  So, as such, we have been told that there is not much they can do as eventually the leukemia will take over his bone marrow and blood. But as you also know, he has been counted out many times before and has proved them wrong, the little fighter than he is.  God is the ultimate physician and can heal anything. He is currently undergoing a plan of chemo that would attack both his cancer and the leukemia at the same time.  They stressed that this was by no means intended to be a cure but rather a stop gap remedy aimed at giving him some extra time.  If the chemo does not work , our options are basically none. The stated goal was to get him feeling good enough to be discharged and hopefully to accomplish his Make-a-wish trip to Disney that we had scheduled for October that he was looking so forward to.

Please pray that he will feel better in the next few weeks and get out of this hospital so that he can experience the trip to Disney that he so deserves. He has fought so hard and so long, and we know his little body is weary, but Lord please give him the strength to keep fighting so that he may have just a little more quality time here on Earth.
