ABOUT

Established in 1998, Project Kindle is a nonprofit organization that empowers those infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS by offering week-long summer camps, mini camp sessions, enrichment programs, continued education scholarship funds, community health education and outreach, a peer-based speaker’s bureau led by HIV-impacted young people, and year-round support.  What began as a one-week cost free summer camp in 1999, now reaches thousands of children, young adults and families each year through various programs.

The services provided through Project Kindle promote better physical and mental health by helping the children cope with the many emotions of living with HIV/AIDS in their everyday life. Each of Project Kindle’s programs is designed so the participants experience acceptance within a safe place, without stigma.  HIV/AIDS does not rule their lives here.  They meet their peers, who often are experiencing the same difficulties.  These young people participate in educational activities designed to develop leadership, team building, self-worth, health awareness, character education and coping skills.
