The entire City of Paradise was under evacuation due to the 'Camp Fire' and the Hartt family was no exception.
Phoebe and Larry Hartt fled their home of 35 years - leaving behind a lifetime of family memories. They grabbed their pets and made sure their daughter, Laurie, and son-in-law, Samet, were on the evacuation route. When it comes down to what matters most, family and loved ones are irreplaceable.
Within hours, their lives would change forever. The Hartt family home was engulfed in the relentless flames of the Camp Fire. Family heirlooms, the wedding dress that was passed down for generations, homey comforts of clothes and favorite pillows were now gone. The Hartt family will never celebrate another big Thanksgiving in their dinning room or an early morning Christmas in the living room again.
Sadly, Laurie and Samet Hartt-Kaplan have lost their home as well. This was their first home and only purchased last year. They were still nesting and setting things up for a lifetime of growing old together. Their beautiful home was surrounded by tall pine trees and was visited by deer who passed through every dusk and dawn.
95% of the City of Paradise has been demolished. There is nothing left but ash and loving memories of a community that once was.
As long-standing Paradise residences, the Hartt family has had their world flipped upside down. The purpose of this GoFundMe is to help the Hartt family get back on their feet. Things will never be 'normal' again, but the love in their hearts remains strong. Funds collected here will go directly to their bare essentials - food, clothes, shelter.
Anything helps. ❤️

I'm Julie Fish, originally from California, now living in Australia.
Your relationship or contact to the parties you're raising funds for
My relationship with the beneficiaries goes back 10+ years when we lived in the same town (Chico, CA). The Hartt family are close friends. Even though we live in different countries now, I am still in touch with the beneficiaries regularly.
How the funds will be spent (be specific as possible)
The beneficiaries lost all of their belongings and their homes in a large fire that destroyed their city. The funds raised here will be used to pay for temporary shelter, food, clothes, day-to-day living expenses.
Your withdrawal plan to get the funds from the campaign to the ultimate beneficiary
This campaign has been set up with Laurie Hartt- Kaplan as the direct beneficiary. She is able to withdrawal the funds on a daily basis. This primary beneficiary is able to coordinate the distribution of these funds to share with her family to meet their immediate needs.
