THE STORY:
Our car has died! Wednesday, September 25th, Chris was returning from co-leading a retreat about 2 hours from where we live in Xela. Throughout the entire trip home, our car was causing problems. The 2 hour trip turned into an 8 hour trip through the mountain road in the rain and at night. After about 7 hours Chris finally made it to about 30 minutes from Xela where the car finally died. It was 10:30 at night on a dark lonely road. He had to get towed the rest of the way home.
Our car has served us tremendously over the past years for our family but even more for ministry. We have been all over the western part of the country visiting the families involved in InnerCHANGE and also used it in the city to transport kids and parents. We have used it during emergencies to take people to the hospital, been part of weddings and funerals. It has become an essential part of our life and ministry.
However, it has also been a problem ever since we bought it having all kinds of different problems including already having the engine rebuilt once causing us to spend half of the price that we bought it for in repairs. And now it has died once again after having the engine rebuilt a little over a year ago.
WHAT WE NEED:
We are raising money to purchase a “new” (used) car. Please consider helping us out with this need so that we can buy a new vehicle to use for ministry and for transportation for our family. Please also help us spread the word so that we can meet our goal quickly. We are currently in the rainy season and Xela is a place that floods quickly. We often take the kids home since the conditions are not the best for walking.
WHO WE ARE:
Chris has been a missionary with InnerCHANGE in Guatemala since 2013. Liz has been serving on the team since 2015 as a volunteer and as a full time missionary since 2017. We got married in July 2017 and had our first baby boy in December 2018.
