UPDATE 11/16: Everton is now in Brazil and Gessiene is figuring out so many things that need to happen before her and Pedro return home. As Gessiene said: "I love this country, it has given us so much; and now it's taking it all. I don't know where I would be today if it wasn't for all your support." The main concern going back is Pedro's epilepsy and the shortage of his medicine in Brazil and the fact that the nearest neurologist will be 500km away. Gessiene needs to buy enough of his daily medicine to last until they are able to get an appointment for him there ($2,300). She also needs to continue paying the lawyer (debt is at $3,300) and she owes $650 of the November rent, but she'll need to pay December rent soon. Additionally, she bought their tickets back to Brazil for December with a payment plan and still has $700 to pay. Without considering the money they'll need to start from zero back in Brazil, the Liberato family needs $6,950 urgently.

UPDATE: Everton had his court hearing yesterday, Oct 2nd, and was not given asylum. He was also denied release on bond which means he will not get to see his son and wife before being deported to Brazil, within the next 30 days. The Liberato family now has to finish paying the lawyer; the total was $8,800 for presenting the asylum petition and request for bond and $4,500 were paid in September so the lawyer could start the case. The lawyer and family created a payment agreement to pay $1,000 every month on the 9th. The first payment is coming up next week. The rest of the family is now considering also moving back to Brazil because they cannot live separated. They will need funds for the move as well as to establish their life back in Brazil.

Ele também teve sua libertação sob fiança negada, o que significa que ele não poderá ver seu filho e esposa antes de ser deportado para o Brasil, nos próximos 30 dias. The reason for asking for asylum is because his son has epilepsy and needs to continue his treatment and care here. He needs a lawyer to take on his case and thus needs your help to get the funds to do so. Help us bring Everton back home!

Today I come, with open heart, to ask you for your help. My husband Everton Liberato, known as Tom, was detained recently by ICE and is waiting for the possibility to be released on bond and address his immigration process undetained. As his family, we are doing everything possible to gather the necessary resources to pay the bond, but we can’t do it alone.

Everton is a man of character, a hard worker and beloved by everyone who knows him. He is a dedicated father and husband, always present, and his absence has left an enormous hole in our home. We are fighting to keep faith and stay strong, but the value of the bond is high and exceeds our resources in this moment. he can return to living with his family while addressing his immigration process with dignity and support. If you can contribute any amount, no matter how small it may seem, it will make a big difference in our lives.
