Atencionsamente,

Comunidade Jesus Bom Pastor, Beverly!

Campaign From ❤️ To ❤️

Hello Everyone!

As you may know, we, the Brazilian community of Jesus the Good Shepherd, Beverly NJ, are raising money for a heart transplant and we would like to share the story with you from our friend, sister, and faithful parishioner Maynara Mustafa.

In October 2018, Maynara was admitted to Lourdes Hospital in Willingboro, NJ.  After careful examination it was discovered that her heart was enlarged.   From there she was transferred to two different hospitals Our Lady of Lourdes in Camden and Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick.  There Maynara was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy.  While at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital she underwent surgery to put in a device known as a cardio-defibrillator* (CDI) (https://www.medtronic.com/br-pt/your-health/treatments-therapies/icd-devices.html)*.

On Christmas night 2018, Maynara was back in the emergency room as she was retaining fluid in her lungs.  In January, her heart was only 15% of 50% working properly.  She was given many medications and advised to rest, but in March her heart functions were even lower, leading to another hospital stay of 16 days.  This time she went to Pennsylvania University Hospital, because her cardiologist asked her to go in search of better technologies to treat her.

When Maynara returned home she was being medicated by an inserted arterial line, which ran from her arm to her heart.  After one week of treatment and receiving visits from the nurses at home, she had a severe relapse.  Upon returning to the emergency room it was found that her heart was functioning at 5%of 50% of the cardiac drive.  During several evaluations she was put on the transplant list, because her heart was very weak, and the risk of death was very great.  After the medical evaluation she was told that she would only have a few more weeks to live if she did not have a heart transplant.  The worst part came when it was discovered that she could not receive a transplant because she is not a United States resident or citizen and does not qualify for any of the health care programs.  The only solution would be to install a device called, “ventricular assist  device” (VAD). This function serves to aid circulation, which partially or completely assumes the function of a defective heart chamber. (https:///us.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visitory_displacement_display_id)

This device was donated by the manufacturer with participation from the University Hospital of Pennsylvania.  Maynara underwent three major surgeries so the VAD Device could be successful.  She is still in the intensive care unit, and is looking forward to her recovery, but she’ll still need the heart transplant.

We thank you immensely if you can help our campaign with a donation and also share Maynara’s story in your network.  We know that times are tough, but even $5.00 will be useful!  If you have any questions, we will respond with pleasure.  The fight is great, and God is greater than all obstacles.

Your help can save the life of this warrior!
