Casa Ngoma needs to grow to continue transforming lives in Babilônia.
In Mestre Marrom's garden, a unique space has taken root — one that feeds, educates, and empowers around 50 children and families every day. Through Capoeira Angola, academic support, cultural workshops, daily meals, and the transmission of Afro-Brazilian history, traditions, and ancestral knowledge, Casa Ngoma has been creating opportunities and strengthening the community for the past four years.
Today, the project needs to grow.
The current space is no longer large enough to meet the growing needs of the community. We're launching an international fundraising campaign to expand Casa Ngoma and allow it to welcome more children and families. Every contribution helps build that future. Every euro becomes a brick, a classroom, and an opportunity.
At the top of Morro da Babilônia in Rio de Janeiro stands a place where culture, education, and solidarity transform lives every day.
Founded by Mestre Marrom — a leading figure in Capoeira Angola and a resident of the community for more than 30 years — Casa Ngoma is much more than a capoeira centre. It is a socio-educational space that welcomes around 50 children daily, offering meals, capoeira and music classes, tutoring, environmental education, digital literacy, and cultural programmes connected to Afro-Brazilian history and traditions.
As the project continues to grow, so does the demand from young people and families in the community. The current space can no longer accommodate everyone who would benefit from these programmes.
Every contribution represents far more than a financial donation. It helps build a better future, preserve ancestral knowledge and Afro-Brazilian cultural heritage, strengthen community ties, and offer the next generation opportunities rooted in education, culture, and dignity.
Expanding Casa Ngoma means expanding the future of an entire generation.
Please consider donating, sharing, and helping spread the word.
