Let's Make History for The Colfax Museum!

After surviving a major flood where 2 1/2 feet of water came through our building in a freak storm in 2019, we have since moved our collection safely into storage and are working on getting things back on display in 2020. Instead of taking on the added responsibility of maintaining our own building, for now we are concentrating on creating installations at various locations.
The first installation will be at the Route 40 Cafe (formerly The Goods restaurant) on East Colfax, located in the historical Lowenstein Theatre building, which also houses the Tattered Cover, Twist & Shout, and the Sie Film Center. This exhibit will feature Artifax and collectibles from U.S. Route 40, which used to run the length of Colfax Avenue on its way from Atlantic City, NJ all the way to San Francisco, CA. The exhibit also features famous Colfax cultural icons, movie stars, and musicians in the Colfax Avenue Hall of Fame.
Our first fundraiser was a success and we reached our goal of $15,000.00 which will fully fund all of the Artifax in this exhibit. Thanks to your efforts, all of the items on display are now permanent property of The Colfax Museum Inc. non-profit organization so they can be enjoyed by all Coloradans (and the world for that matter) into the future. Thank you everyone who contributed!
The next exhibit is called "40 Years of The 'Fax" and opened at History Colorado on June 29, 2020. This exhibit also focuses on the Highway 40 years, from 1926-1966, and features highlights from Colfax Avenue during its heyday as a tourist epicenter.
The funds required to purchase all of the Artifax in this exhibit have yet to be raised. A lot has been accomplished and we are moving forward with our museum's goals, but to accomplish this, we need to raise some money. Once this is raised, all of the work going into this exhibit will also become permanent property of our museum.
