Caoimhe is 8 years old. She contracted Lyme’s by a tick bite at the age of 3 years old. It went undiagnosed until the age of 7.
Lyme’s affects Caoimhe in the following ways she struggles with breathing, she gets nosebleeds, headaches, eye aches, inflammation, cognitive dysfunction, vomiting, chronic stomach pain, joint pain such as ankles, knees, wrists, shoulders, neck and on extreme days is unable to walk.
Coupled with this she also has chronic exhaustion. This has been regular life for Caoimhe for the past 6 years. When she feels good, she wants to do all the things a normal 8-year-old does, gymnastics, football, running swimming and playdates. However, when she does one of her activities, she suffers all the above symptoms intensified for 4 to 5 days.
She cannot understand why she feels this way. It is very difficult to get treatment for Lyme’s disease in Ireland. Over the past 6 years, we have had numerous hospital visits in A&E, numerous admissions, monitoring, CT scans, MRI’s, X-rays, neurology, optical you name it, it was checked and still nothing showed.
She was on the brink of Acoma at one point but still no resolve by the Doctors and Nurses that attended her. She misses a lot of school due to Lyme’s disease.
After years of research and trying conventional and holistic treatments we have finally met a Specialist from the United States who said he can eradicate Lyme’s and the numerous co-infection diseases that Caoimhe has.
It will consist of 6 weeks intensive I/V treatments, hyperbaric oxygen chambers and holistic therapies. This Go Fund Me page is for Caoimhe to get better and live like a normal 8-year old.
