A Place For Hope, Inc. is the neighborhood resource center for the Blackmon Road Community. We provide after school and summer programming for children, evening education and job development training for adults, and serve as an advocacy organization for and in partnership with the residents of the Blackmon Road Community in York County, SC.
In January 2019, A Place for Hope received a grant from the Fort Mill Rotary Club for a much needed update to our education lab. We now have four brand new computer stations in our center. In August 2019, Dr. Jeannie Haubert initiated the APFH Eagles Program, where Winthrop University students volunteer to serve as mentors in our free after school homework clinic.
We need YOUR support to help us pay the costs of healthy snacks and educational supplies for our kids, and to help us cover the costs of water, electricity, insurance, and heating & cooling costs of the APFH Center and the Wash House. This not only helps the center but also gives access to water and sewer to ALL members of the community. Winthrop University staff and students are running the after school program, and we need to hire a part-time director for the after-school program for the fall and the spring. Donations will also go towards for mulch, fire-ant prevention, and other basic playground maintenance needs.
