Camp Tamias for Ukrainian Refugee Children

Hi, my name is Maria Levin, and I’m the Director of Camp Tamias, unique two-week summer program where intellectually curious and gifted teens explore science, nature, and technology through hands-on projects, academic workshops, and outdoor adventures. Our mission is to nurture bright young minds in a supportive and inspiring environment where they can connect and thrive.

This summer, we have a special goal: to offer scholarships to five exceptional Ukrainian refugee teens. These are young people who have been displaced by war, yet continue to pursue learning with passion, talent, and resilience.

One of these students is Artem, a 15-year-old who fled Ukraine with his mother and younger sister after the war began in 2022. He left behind his school, friends, and home in Kharkiv. Their journey to safety was terrifying. They survived bombings, a serious car accident, and months of displacement before finally arriving in the United States.

Now living in New Jersey, Artem has rebuilt his life and his studies from the ground up. Despite the trauma and upheaval, he recently won first place in the TIS Cybersecurity Competition, and has become known at his school as a gifted coder and ethical hacker. He dreams of using technology to create safer communities and to help others, just as so many have helped him.

Camp Tamias is more than just a summer camp. It’s a place where bright teens explore science, technology, and nature through hands-on projects and outdoor learning. For refugee students like Artem, it’s a rare opportunity to connect with peers who share their passions and to experience joy, discovery, and belonging in a supportive environment where they can imagine a brighter future.

We are raising funds to sponsor five Ukrainian refugee students who cannot afford to attend camp on their own.

Our staff is generously donating their time and efforts, so 100% of your donations will go directly toward:

Lodging and meals for the full two-week program

Basic materials and supplies for learning activities

Transportation assistance, if needed
