Camp Merrywood

Hi,

my name is Siman and I am a 21 year old young woman with cerebral palsy. I was born this way and learned to live with this my whole life.

Growing up I wasn’t able to go with my friends and family to do “normal outings” because of my disability. Even when it came to camps I wasn’t able to go because it didn’t cater to my needs. Camp Merrywood is like any other camp but the difference is that they adapt to our needs.

There’s so many different activities for us. There are no barriers and we could do anything. Some campers including myself forget about our disability when we are at camp. We love that they cater to our needs and make it so fun and special for us. Some of the activities that I love and enjoy at camp are canoeing and sailing because it’s so relaxing. My favourite activity is swimming, because in the pool is where I feel free and not worry much about my disability. Many times while at camp Merrywood I forget about my disability. I have been to Camp Merrywood before and loved my time there. Unfortunately this year I am not able to afford it and would love if I can have you guys support this cause as it is very important to me. Please share and donate whatever you can.
