Dear Friends and Family,
I am currently in my freshman year at Bowdoin College and a member of our school football team, the Polar Bears. I am asking for your help to support me in my ongoing efforts over the past two years to raise money for a worthy cause: Camp Loyaltown.
Camp Loyaltown is a summer camp for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities located in Hunter, New York. It is a special place. Camp Loyaltown promotes the discovery of independence, the development of new strengths and the joys of friendship through a fun and interactive summer camp experience. The camp also provides the added benefit of allowing the parents of its attendees to enjoy a much needed break from the 7 days-a-week, 24-hour supervision their children often require. This respite allows the parents to recharge and more fully connect with other family members, while resting assured that their children are in capable hands. My inspiration in this endeavor has been “Big Will.” Will Schupler is 12-year-old boy who is a family friend from my local community. He has been diagnosed with cortical dysplasia. His condition has prevented his brain from developing past that of an 18-month-old child and causes him to suffer unrelenting, debilitating seizures. Will attends Camp Loyaltown every summer. My family and I have witnessed first-hand the incredible benefits Camp Loyaltown has brought to Will and his family.
Rob Schupler, Will's father, raises money for Camp Loyaltown every year. The camp relies solely on donations to function and exist. For the past two years I have assisted Mr. Schupler in his efforts to raise money for Camp Loyaltown through my teammates, friends and family. I am proud to state that I have had the support of 100% of my teammates, as well as many others, who have donated to assist me in supporting this worthy cause.
This year Rob Schupler’s goal is to raise $50,000 for Camp Loyaltown to build a state of the art “Sensory Room” for Will, his friends and all attendees at Camp Loyaltown to enjoy. I would like to assist him in meeting this goal by raising $2,500 for Camp Loyaltown. I am asking for your assistance to help me reach this goal.* Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated and you can be assured you are helping to bring joy into the lives of those who attend this wonderful camp.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Sincerely,
Devin Burdo
