This single mother and son lost everything in the Camp Fire in Paradise.  If you are able to help, any assistance is so greatly appreciated.

From Jennifer:

My nephew Colby who is 7 years old, is my hero. On the morning of November 8, 2018, he woke his mom and dad up and asked them to look outside at the sky because it “looked weird and orange”. They could immediately tell there was a fire in the area and they turned the scanner on and heard EVACUATE PARADISE NOW! My sister, Janelle immediately called and woke me up and said, “get your things and get out NOW! Paradise is being evacuated.” She then ran next door to our moms house and woke her up and said Paradise is being evacuated we have to get out NOW! I was able to get a few diapers, wipes and clothes for my infant son, my two dogs and my cat. As I went outside to round up my chickens to evacuate them, my neighbor yelled at me to leave my chickens behind, to get my son, dogs, and cat and get out of there NOW! I immediately left with my 2 frightened dogs, baby boy who will turn one on Christmas and my scared kitty cat packed into my car. It was pitch black and huge pieces of ash were falling on my car. It was difficult to see the road through the thick smoke and falling ash. I drove down Neal road and safely escaped my hometown that was on fire. My sister, mom and I received pictures of where our houses used to be but are now nothing but piles of ash. I saw in the picture of what was once my home, that my chicken coop is still standing. A few days later I was reunited with my 6 chickens that were evacuated from my property and safe at a ranch in Chico. I am so thankful my nephew spoke up about how weird the sky looked. I can’t imagine how the story of my family would have ended had it not been for a 7 year olds inquisitive mind. My entire family is blessed to have my best friend Cathy in our lives. She graciously opened up her home and backyard to 11 of us, 6 dogs, 4 cats and my 6 chickens.
