Camp Fire, Cousin Lost Everything
Donation protected
By now, you have heard of the Camp Fire in Northern California. The fire destroyed an entire town, Paradise, CA, in the span of one day. This is about one family impacted by this devastating fire. But, this story is not about me.
It is about my cousin, his wife, his 4 kids, 1 dog and 3 turtles. They live in Paradise, CA. At 6:30 AM Jered Sprague and HeatherRae Peete went from early morning coffee to absolute emergency in the space of just a couple minutes. They were able to evacuate their children and pets and escape in front of the fire safely. The town was actually starting to burn as they drove out, fires along the road, and people literally driving across lawns and yards to escape the fire.

Jered, HeatherRae, Atticus, Levi, Melody and Evelyn are incredibly fortunate. They are safe and healthy and have a place to stay.

They have lost everything they own. Their house, a 1965 Ford Ranchero, all of their clothes, over 500 cannot be replaced albums, more books than I can count. Jered's scotch and his cigar humidor are gone. They home school and all of the school, the drawings, projects and much more that are part of a school are all gone.
This is the remains of their house .... you can see the burnt out Ranchero :-(

Perhaps worst, though, is all of Jered's tools. He is a self-employed contractor. His tools are his livelihood.
Jered is my cousin, my brother, my best friend ....
Every penny of money given here will go to Jered and HeatherRae and their family to buy new clothes, replace tools, restart the school.
HeatherRae Peete, Jered’s wife, is the beneficiary and will be the person that has control of the funds.
I am hoping to put together $1000 for Jered and HeatherRae in the next week to help them immediately.
UPDATE: I thought $1000 was a tough goal. You guys are crazy awesome. We blew through that in an hour.
UPDATE: A little over 24 hours later and we are closing in on $7500 for Jered and his family. I am awed, humbled, and inspired by the love, kindness and generosity shown by everyone.
UPDATE: Over this weekend, we blew through $7500, over $9000, and now we are closing in on a goal of $10,000. People are awesome!
UPDATE: In just one week you amazing, kind, generous people have given over $10,000. I have set a goal of $15,000 at this point. Thank you so incredibly much.
