Camp Fire Concow Lake Survivors

Donation protected
In the early morning of November 8, my father-in-law, Scott, heard the tones of a large dispatch come over his scanner for a nearby fire. He jumped into action waking the family and calling neighbors to evacuate. Cody, my younger brother-in-law and my mother-in-law went to work grabbing valuables and packing them into their vehicle. My older brother-in-Law, Michael, and Scott attempted to use their tractor and hand tools to make a fire line around the property. Within 20 minutes of hearing the initial dispatch over the scanner, spot fires were starting all around their property and they quickly realized they would not make it out in their vehicle. It became apparent their only option out was to get into the frigid lake by their property. At this point my husband and I received a call from Scott telling us there was fire all around them and that they could not get out. They were headed to the lake in case anyone needed to look for them later. It was probably one of the hardest and most terrifying calls I have ever gotten. A shortened version of their escape in the lake can be read here in the San Francisco Chronicle

Having survived the fire, Scott and Michael went back to survey the damage and met a grim sight. Most of their possessions had burned. Thousands of dollars and a lifetime collection of tools, furniture, family keepsakes, their phones, Scott's truck that the family heavily depended on were all gone. Michael, who is an amazing artist, lost his art shop and all his art supplies as well as most of his projects spanning from when he was a kid. So many things are just gone.

It will be a long process for them to replace the essentials that have been lost, many things will not be replaced. One of the most immediate needs for them is a truck. We are trying to raise funds to help with the cost of getting Scott another truck since it is essential for them, especially now that they will have to clean up their property and rebuild structures. Anything will help and is greatly appreciated.
