My Best friend Cami has been through such a terrible journey. It started when she was excited to get a positive pregnancy test. She was excited to give her nearly 2 year old son a sibling! After going to the doctor for a sonogram they find to their amazement there is no baby. The doctor's were stumped and suggest she go to a specialist to see what could be causing her spike in hormones. Lots of appointment's and lugging a 2 year around she found out she had breast cancer at the age of 28 with no family history of it. After chemo, radiation, a double mastectomy, and 3 failed reconstructive surgeries she decided maybe life without breasts is at least better than no life at all. During this entire process she started to notice slurring in her speech and that she is more prone to falling for no reason at all. After things worsened her doctor referree her to a neurologist who tells her she part of a small percentage of people who have irreversible brain damage from her chemo treatment. Unfortunately this is still not the end of Cami' s tough luck, while getting this news she goes back to the doctor for her first yearly checkup and they find the cancer has come back in her lungs and were unable to provide her a working treatment plan. She drove to Houston ,TX to find another doctor that gave her a suggested course she is just now beginning which once again could have more neurological damage. At this point Cami is beginning her new treatment she is still unable to talk clearly and she is unable to walk and play with her now 4 year old son. She is going through all of this with no income as she is unable to work and can use any help we can provide to her. Even if you can't help financially pass this story along. Thank you for listening to her story.
