I have been hiding from the internet for 7 years, and this is my story!
After spending much of my early 20’s in the public eye on Twitch — and then moving into a career path / working climate that ended up taking a significant toll on my mental health — I started gaining weight over many years that would eventually peak at almost 300 pounds. Through therapy, weight loss surgery, positive life changes, and commitments to better health, I was able to lose nearly half my body weight in the last 3 years.
Now that my consistent efforts have paid off, I’ve now reached the finish line of my transformation by electing to have two surgeries for the removal of excess skin, those being abdominoplasty and thighplasty. These procedures are unfortunately ineligible to be covered by medical insurance, as they do not reach the requirements to be deemed a medical necessity.
When I started this journey, I knew there would be loose skin, but didn’t quite understand the profound impact it would have on me on a daily basis. Having substantial loose skin impacts the way I see myself and the way I exercise, the way I lay down, and bathe — it’s a constant and ever-present reminder of a negative time in my life.
Even if you're not able to contribute, I appreciate your openness by listening to me share my experience, and I would really appreciate it if you would share my story!
Also, whatever your relationship to me might be, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly about any of the experiences I mentioned in the video, from weight loss surgery, to mental health struggles as a game dev (or in general), elective procedures; I’d be happy to chat about any of it.
Lots of love, and excited to be comfortable with sharing more of myself online again in the near future.
