Cuando Camila, una madre amorosa de 63 años, fue diagnosticada con cáncer en etapa 4, fue devastador para ella y su familia.


Camila se sometió a una colonoscopia de rutina hace varios meses. Durante el examen, el médico descubrió un tumor en su colon. Después de extensas pruebas, se confirmó que el tumor era canceroso. El plan era programar una cirugía para extirpar el tumor.


Debido a los retrasos de el Medi-Cal y todos los trámites burocráticos, la cirugía tuvo lugar varias semanas después.


Cuando Camila finalmente fue aprobada para su cirugía, la familia se mostró optimista de que todo saldría bien. Sin embargo, durante la cirugía para extirpar el tumor, los médicos descubrieron que el cáncer se había extendido al hígado. Los médicos ya no pudieron extirpar el tumor. El riesgo era demasiado grande.


El oncólogo explicó que el siguiente curso de acción fue la quimioterapia. Al escuchar esta horrible noticia, la familia tomó medidas al analizar todos los tratamientos disponibles.


La elección de Camila y su hijo fue buscar un tratamiento alternativo. La quimioterapia no era una opción que quisieran. Debido a esta elección, el Medi-Cal no cubriría el costo de ningún tratamiento.


A pesar de que el tratamiento en el que Camila y su hijo creian y en donde estaba toda su fe no estaba cubierto por el Medi-Cal, decidieron continuar con el tratamiento porque era el camino que sus esperanzas y sus corazones los llevaban para poder recuperar su salud. Camila luchó día y noche, demostrando a todos a su alrededor su verdadera valentia y fuerza. Su determinación de vivir y permanecer con su hijo fue heroica. Ella no solo luchó contra el cáncer, sino que fue a la guerra hasta el final. Desafortunadamente, a pesar de todos sus esfuerzos, este último martes por la tarde, después de una larga y dura guerra contra el cáncer, el cielo se ganó un ángel y Camila se reunió con su esposo y su padre en el cielo.


Aunque el tratamiento no pudo salvar su vida, pudo otorgarle 4 meses adicionales de vida de lo que los médicos predijeron anteriormente. Como su hijo y el resto de su familia ahora sufren por su trágica pérdida, las facturas de su tratamiento y ahora sus gastos funerarios / conmemorativos se han acumulado. Debido a los recursos limitados de su hijo, él y su familia preguntan si todos pueden unirse y ayudar a aliviar algunas de las dificultades financieras que ahora enfrentan. Cualquier ayuda es muy apreciada durante este tiempo trágico en sus vidas.

When Camila, a 63 years old loving mother of one was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer it was devastating to her and her family.


Camila went in for a routine colonoscopy several months ago. During the exam the doctor discovered a tumor on her colon. After extensive testing it was confirmed that the tumor was cancerous. The plan was to schedule surgery to remove the tumor.


Due to Medi-Cal delays and all the red tape the surgery took place several weeks later.


When Camila was finally approved for her surgery the family was optimistic that everything would work out. However, during the surgery to remove the tumor the doctors discovered that the cancer had spread to the liver. The doctors could no longer remove the tumor. The risk was too great.


The oncologist explained that the next course of action was chemotherapy. Hearing this horrific news the family took action by looking into all available treatments.


The choice Camila and her son made was to seek alternative treatment. Chemotherapy was not an option they wanted. Due to this choice Medi-Cal would not cover the cost of any treatments.


Despite the fact that the treatment Camila and her son believed in was not covered by Medi-Cal, they chose to proceed with the treatment as it was the path their hope and their hearts was leading them towards to recover her health. Camila fought day and night, proving to everyone around her true courage and strength. Her determination to live and remain with her son was heroic. She did not just battle cancer, she went to war with it until the very end. Unfortunately, despite her every effort, this last Tuesday afternoon, after a long hard war against cancer, heaven earned an angel and Camila has reunited with her husband and father in heaven. 


Though treatment was unable to save her life, it was able to grant her 4 additional months of life than what doctors previously predicted. As her son and the rest of her family now grief her tragic loss, bills of her treatment and now her funeral/memorial expenses have piled up. Due to her son’s limited resources he and his family ask if everyone can cone together and help relieve some of the financial hardship they are now facing. Any and all help is greatly appreciated during this tragic time in their lives.
